Generative AI is an exploding field, but with all the hype, chatter and fear mongering around the subject, it can be hard to understand. This book is extremely well written and does a fantastic job of introducing the topic from a balanced perspective, explaining both the exciting potential and ethically challenging aspects of this technology. The authors do a great job providing a gentle introduction to the topic while also covering topics that are applicable and relevant for technical practitioners. As such, I would highly recommend this book to experts and novices alike!

This is a great introductory guide for anyone interested in Generative AI. The authors did a great job of giving a holistic overview that is accessible to non-technical audiences. A friend of mine who is a Machine Learning Engineer also learned how to better communicate technical concepts from this book – so it is helpful for those who have a technical background as well. Highly recommend!

There are many new books on AI and the exciting world of Generative AI. Unless you are actively working in the AI field or have time to research it the terms and technology involved can be overwhelmingThis book takes frequent looks into recent history in the AI field and plots to where the industry is currently is at. There are real life examples of the benefits of Generative AI but also documents genuine issues and the technological problems of believing everything ChatGPT tells you. There are sections on ethics, abuse and legal issues, from copyright to data privacy although chapter 8 (risks) was a lot of duplicated material from earlier chapters.I would recommend this book for technical leadership and non-technical management. Although it covers the high level workflows of LLMs and synthetic media the book holds off stepping into the actual mathematics which are not that complex and can be explained by a diagram or you can even ask ChatGPT to explain them to you!
