From the Preface
Within a mere five days of its release, ChatGPT reached an impressive one million users, sending shock waves throughout the tech industry and beyond. As a side effect, the OpenAI API for AI-powered text generation was suddenly brought to light, despite having been available for three years. The ChatGPT interface showcased the potential of such language models, and suddenly developers and inventors began to realize the incredible possibilities available at their fingertips.
The field of natural language processing has made incredible technical progress over the years, but until recently, use of the technology was limited to an elite few. The OpenAI API and its accompanying libraries provide a ready-to-use solution for anyone seeking to build AI-powered applications. There is no need to have powerful hardware or deep knowledge of artificial intelligence; with just a few lines of code, developers can integrate incredible features into their projects at a reasonable cost.
We combine our knowledge and experience, Olivier as a data scientist and Marie-Alice as a software engineer, to give you a broad understanding of how to develop applications with GPT-4 and ChatGPT. In these pages, you will find clear and detailed explanations of AI concepts, as well as user-friendly guidelines on how to integrate the OpenAI services effectively, securely, and cost-consciously.
This book is designed to be accessible to all, but some basic Python knowledge is preferred. Through clear explanations, example projects, and step-by-step instructions, we invite you to discover with us how GPT-4 and ChatGPT can transform the way we interact with machines.
Editorial Reviews
Review
“This book is short, but a better term might be “concise”. All the relevant information is there. The explanations are clear, easy to follow, and get to the point quickly. […] a good, short primer is both necessary and appropriate. Well done.” –

Yikes! Another expensive pamphlete
Just received this book … it’s only 132 pages. I haven’t even cracked it open (I hate when folks review books they haven’t read. I will revise this review once I have). However, I’m completely shocked that this expensive book is so thin. The content looks promising, but it had better be golden to justify the high price.

Useful book but ludicrously overpriced
This is a good book as far as it goes and the authors deserve credit for distilling a complicated topic into an easy to read format. When reading it, it helps to understand python. That said, the book is very slight and the price is very high. Ordinarily O’Reilly books are good value for money. The best example of that are Learning Python and Programming Python by Mark Lutz which are both about a tree worth of paper for only £50. This book is not value for money. It should retail for circa £25 max. For that reason I can only award it two stars. If it retailed for a sensible price, it would deserve 4 stars.

Best book
This book is an excellent introduction for those new to the world of LLMs. It explains a complex subject in an easy-to-read format that is ideal for beginners. The book is rich in content, with practical Python examples that are invaluable for hands-on learning. While it’s not designed for experts, it provides a comprehensive overview for beginners. A basic understanding of Python is necessary to fully appreciate the book, making it a perfect starting point for anyone wanting to explore the capabilities of GPT in Python applications.

Conteúdo rico
O conteúdo é muito rico , mas parece acabar abruptamente, deixando faltar algo. Outros capítulos poderiam ser adicionados, para aprofundar mais outros do Lang Chain.
